Ready to turn your love for dogs into a real career? Our Learn to Groom Apprenticeship Training Program walks you through three progressive skill levels, starting with Level 1, the basics and building all the way to level 3 as a confident, professional dog groomer.
With over 25 years professional grooming experience and formally trained at the Nash Academy of Animal Arts Pet Grooming school, you will work side by side with our Director of Quality & Compliance and her skilled team of pet stylists.
You will get hands-on experience, while working next to seasoned groomers, and the real salon training that prepares you for success in the pet industry. Whether you are brand new or ready to sharpen your skills, this program is designed to help you grow, gain confidence, and graduate with the tools you need to groom safely, beautifully, and professionally. Your future starts here.
Our program consists of 3 skill levels to become a fully trained pet groomer and stylist. Beginning with Level One Bather, you could start earning a paycheck on your first day of class.
Level 1: Bather
On your first day, you will start grooming dogs in our salon, not from a computer screen or a staged classroom. From Doodles to poodles, and everything in between, you will learn the skills needed to be a professional dog groomer.
Level One focuses on Bathing & Preparation, the most important level, where you learn proper dog handling, coat and skin evaluation, brushing, drying, nail trimming, ear care, and creating a clean foundation for every groom.
In Level 1, you will learn the following skills
- Proper brushing techniques and tool selection
- Dog handling techniques
- Bathing, blow drying skills
- Ear cleaning, nail trimming
- Canine anatomy
- Tools and equipment are not included (~$1,000)
Level 2: Pet Groomer
Now that you have perfected Level One, Level Two focuses clipper work, trimming and shaving paw pads while teaching safe tool handling.
Level 3: Pet Stylist
Final Level Three is all about Scissoring & Finishing, where you master detailed face shaping, feet, tails, blending, and those polished finishing touches that elevate your grooms to the next level. Throughout the program, you receive real salon experience and customer service skills that will follow you from years to come. The one-on-one mentoring from experienced groomers, and step-by-step coaching that builds your confidence at every stage is the Max’s Natural Pet Market & Salon difference.
